For some time now I’ve had a dream.  My dream is to write a book all about bourbon.  Specifically, I want to write a book about the many fine bottles of bourbon that are easy to find, not too expensive, and are often overlooked by those who are chasing the allocations. You know, the bottles that are generally found on the “bottom shelf.”

Sure, we all love our allocated bottles, but finding them at MSRP can be nearly impossible.  Lots of folks don’t have the ability to sit in front of a liquor store for days on end waiting to be the first in line for a bourbon drop, and most of us can’t afford to pay the insane secondary prices.

For many, bourbon seems like it must be a rich man’s game.  But it doesn’t have to be.  I have found that there are a lot of those overlooked bottles that are mighty tasty, and extremely affordable.  Those are the bottles I want to include in my book.

But I need your help.  For one, I’m really not that good at describing tasting notes.  I’m getting better, but most folks are much better than I am at picking them out.  But also, even with the reasonable pricing of these bottles, I don’t think Mrs. MacGregor would be okay with me buying hundreds of bottles.  Even if it is for “research!”  And then there are those bottles that may be regional.  My brother-in-law in Indiana tells me often of great bottles that I never see where I live in East Tennessee.

I want this book to be as all inclusive as possible, so tell your friends in all parts of the country about my project and ask them to help.
